The latest SolutionCity – Adelaide Australia event, held on 27th June 2006 was a very interesting and well attended Investment Seminar, hosted by Piper Alderman & Paragon Advisory. The information was interesting, valuable and well received and the refreshments encouraged an excellent networking session at the conclusion of the presentations.
The evening began with Jeff Oughton of National Australia Bank providing a picture of global economic trends, the current and future Australian economic scene as he saw it and some information and predictions on South Australia’s economy in comparison with other States. His views on the future of the Mining, Aquaculture, Defence and Technology industries were positive and realistic. His common catch cry “Go China” in reference to the opportunities that abound in that country fell on receptive ears for a number of SolutionCity – Adelaide Australia supporter companies that are already targeting or contemplating China as an export opportunity.
Geoff Thomas, CEO of Paragon Advisory spoke about his business model for investment and in typical fashion caused some amusement with his comments about other Venture Capital companies, particularly on the east coast and in USA. Paragon’s business model is worth further investigation for those who are considering changes to company ownership or structure.
Marianne Dunham from Piper Alderman spoke briefly about the legal issues involved with any investment funding. She used a series of excellent analogies and an innovative PowerPoint presentation to underline her information and to draw conclusions from that.
The evening was well received by all present and I have provided some excerpts from the presentations as separate files that may give some idea of the information provided.
