ABB Grain
One of the foremost grain merchants in Australia, the Australian Barley Board (ABB) need to maintain the most up-to-date information infrastructure for clients, including grain growers in rural areas not always serviced by high-bandwidth Internet connections.
Chimo constructed a system that is not only powerful and functional, but that also has optimal performance and download efficiency. We have allowed growers to form electronic contracts for their grain at a particular silo, locking in prices during harvest. Return prices are estimated with a sliding scale calculator that takes into account commodity variables according to the day's harvest prior to delivery.
Driven from Chimo's high-capacity server, our system operates from a central database that is regularly updated from ABB's mainframe with pricing, marketing strategic information.
Despite being built over two years ago, the solution itself continues to provide ABB with a competitive advantage over their competitors and the executives at ABB couldn’t be happier.
