Press Release 7 March 2008

EIA and ICT Council Merger Discussions

We’re writing to tell you about some exciting changes that are under construction that will impact EIA and ICT Council members. These changes relate to a review of the strategic direction that the EIA and ICT Council have, as we move towards the future with a new focus on a broader and coordinated representation of the industries. This message is a follow on update from the previous communication provided in February about EIA and ICT Council collaboration.

We’re pleased to inform that we have appointed an independent Project Officer; Brian Hanisch, Managing Director i2Net. Brian has been contracted to create a business plan on the value of merging the EIA with the ICT Council. Brian has a wealth of experience in this area and will be analysing the main benefits of merging. For example these are just some of the many benefits that members for both organisations could receive if the merger proceeds, such as:

  • increased number and range of events to attend;
  • unified strategic direction embracing both the electronics and ICT industries;
  • greater networking and business opportunities;
  • increased capability to attract government funding to support common strategic initiatives; and
  • more detailed career information to impart to high school students.

Engagement with members is paramount throughout the change process and we encourage you to visit the EIA and ICT Council websites for updates. Members will be kept informed of the progress of the merger discussions and either organisation would welcome any questions or comments you may have. Please contact Greg Bassani, EIA Executive Director via email gbassani@eiaa.asn.au or via phone on (08) 8272 5222, or Claire Baker, ICT Council Executive Director via email exec.director@ictcouncil.org.au or via phone on (08) 8410 7400.
