ADELAIDE SETS THE TEMPO.

WCIT 2004 Athens, Greece

Recently, a delegation of 11 company representatives under the SolutionCity- Adelaide Australia umbrella, attended the World Congress on IT (WCIT 2004) in Athens Greece. This was the first time that the SolutionCity-Adelaide Australia brand had received genuine global exposure and the results were very encouraging.

The Exhibit which formed a part of our attendance was well received by the delegates at the World Congress. Many of these delegates had visited Adelaide for the WCIT 2002 and thought that the Brand was impressive.Congratulations were offered and interest shown in the concept behind the Brand.

The exhibit organised by Marg Nowlan displayed all SolutionCity members and five companies, sponsored by the South Australian Government showcased their products.A large number of potential opportunities resulted for the companies that attended and also SolutionCity companies that were represented by our delegation.

WCIT 2006 will be hosted by Austin, Texas, sister city of Adelaide.  A large delegation from Austin attended the 2004 Congress. At a reception hosted by the WCIT 2006 Committee, Denis Wall from SolutionCity, on behalf of our Lord Mayor, Michael Harbison presented a plaque to the Mayor of Austin, Will Wynn. Denis Wall then accepted a gift from Mayor Wynn to be presented to Lord Mayor Harbison at the forthcoming SolutionCity Information Forum on Wednesday 23 June

There have already been several tangible results; not least of which is a request by the Head of the Mason Enterprise Centre, Washington DC. to assist our small ICT companies in an lnternational Business Accelerator program and also he would like to bring a delegation of ICT companies to Adelaide to consider potential partners. There are a number of other leads we are following up on behalf of our members.

Kind Regards,

Bob Johnson

Chair, SolutionCity Management Committee.
