The Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) is the Federal Government agency that helps Australian companies win overseas business for their products and services by reducing the time, cost and risk involved in selecting, entering and developing international markets.
Austrade is represented in 105 locations in 58 countries including an extensive domestic network throughout Australia. Austrade offers practical advice, market intelligence and ongoing support (including financial) to Australian businesses looking to develop international markets. Austrade also provides advice and guidance on overseas investment and joint venture opportunities, and helps put Australian businesses in contact with potential overseas investors. |

In 2002, Austrade established the Austrade Global Information Communications (ICT) Team. The team is made up of over 40 international marketing and technology specialists located across the globe who are dedicated to providing Australian ICT companies with a range of advisory and market research services. Given the increasing economic importance of technology, as both an industry and an enabler of growth and innovation in traditional industries, there are clear benefits that Australia will derive from a vibrant domestic industry that is globally competitive. Austrade's Global ICT Team aims to assist Australian technology companies expand their business internationally.
The move towards a Gloabl ICT industry team recognises both the change in the composition of Australian industry, as well as the fact that ICT companies (and others with technology and services based offerings) need a different type of assistance from if we are to really make a significant difference to the number successfully doing business overseas.
The Austrade Global ICT Team manages a dedicated website for Australian technology exporters. This site, www.austradetech.com provides useful information on opportunities, trends and issues in key markets for Australian ICT companies. Information on getting started in export for new technology companies is also provided on this site. |
